Mick Rock: The Legend Series

WORDS/INTERVIEW – BOBBY MOZUMDER, IMAGES COURTESY MICK ROCK

Photographer Mick Rock has a great new series at CATM Chelsea Gallery. The result is a series of raw photo-art that explodes with energy while clearly stating his ownership of rock-and-roll photography genre. Rockers new and old came out to support Mick Rock’s latest show of photos — the Legends Series, including colorful portraits of David Bowie, Iggy Pop, Debbie Harry and Lou Reed — at gallery CATM Chelsea Tuesday night. Not known to be the most cuddly rock star, a casually dressed Reed looked sheepish as Rock embraced him. Guests included designer John Varvatos, fotog Bob Gruen, DJ Chelsea Leyland, Papercranes singer Rain Phoenix and the Like drummer Tennessee Thomas, (daughter of Pete Thomas, the drummer for Elvis Costello and the Attractions). Afterward, nightlife king Nur Khan hosted a private party at his Electric Room at the Dream Downtown Hotel.
